Cord cutting is a release working: it is meant to loosen the pull of a person, an old relationship or a habit you keep returning to.
How a cord cut is traditionally done
Two candles, one for each party, are joined by a natural string. After cleansing and stating what is being released, the string is burned through at the centre and each candle is left to finish separately.

A cleansing bath before the working and a quiet day after are considered part of the rite, not optional extras.
