Protection Spells: How to Do Them Safely
Warding, cleansing and reversal — the quietest work we do, and the work we recommend first.
Cleanse before you ward
A ward keeps things out. If the trouble is already inside the house, a ward keeps it in. So cleansing always comes first: salt water over thresholds, smoke through corners, a bath for the person, and a spoken dismissal of whatever has attached itself. Only then is the boundary raised.
Name what is being protected
Protection is a boundary, and a boundary needs an edge. Decide plainly whether you are warding a body, a home, a doorway, a business, a child, or a marriage. Vague protection rites dissipate; a named boundary holds.
How a simple ward is worked
- Cleanse the person and the space, as above.
- Lay salt or iron at every threshold — doors first, then windows.
- Walk the boundary once, speaking the refusal aloud: what may not enter, and whose house this is.
- Anchor the ward — a charged jar behind the door, a stone carried on the body, a dressed candle burned down.
- Renew monthly. A ward is maintained, not installed.
Can protection spells backfire?
Protection work is the least volatile branch of the craft, and genuine backfire is rare. What does go wrong: warding a space that was never cleansed, sealing a household against someone who lives in it, or building a ward so tight that ordinary opportunity is shut out along with the trouble. The remedy in every case is to open the working, cleanse properly, and set a narrower boundary.
Reversal work — sending pressure back to its source — is heavier and should not be a first move. We only take it on when there is a concrete pattern to point at, not a general feeling of bad luck.
Signs a ward is doing its job
- Sleep settles, and the house stops feeling watched.
- The person applying pressure loses interest or simply drifts out of range.
- Small accidents and losses stop clustering.
- Ordinary matters — post, money, repairs — begin arriving on time again.
